Robbie Burton

Robbie Burton is a tramper, mountaineer and book publisher who has had a lifelong love of the New Zealand mountains. He is co-owner and publisher at Nelson-based Potton & Burton. As a teenager, Robbie would spend every winter weekend skiing at Mt Robert in Nelson Lakes, while stints at Nelson College’s Mataki Lodge fuelled a deep interest in tramping and mountaineering. These youthful obsessions were later to greatly influence his publishing career, in which he continues to publish many books about our natural world, conservation and outdoor recreation.

Bushline

In conversation with Nikki Macdonald

Robbie discusses his memoir, Bushline, which tells of life, love and adventures in the outdoors, as well as his long career in publishing. The natural world played a central part in developing his youthful obsession with tramping, skiing and mountaineering, first in Nelson Lakes National Park, then throughout the Southern Alps.
