Elizabeth Lissaman: New Zealand's Pioneer Studio Potter
- Jane and Steve in conversation with Cathie Bell
4pm-5pm, Sunday 7 July, ASB Theatre Marlborough, 2 Hutcheson St, Blenheim, $20
Marlborough-born Elizabeth Lissaman was arguably New Zealand's first pioneer studio potter. She designed, threw, decorated, fired and sold her earthenware pottery continuously for almost 70 years. Jane Vial meticulously researched and wrote her story, and Steve Austin contributed an essay placing Elizabeth's work in the wider international context. Jane and Steve discuss what makes Elizabeth and her pottery so special.
