Gavin Bishop
Gavin Bishop (Tainui, Ngāti Awa) is a highly acclaimed children's book author and illustrator who lives and works in Christchurch. He has produced nearly 60 books ranging from original stories to retellings of Māori myths, European fairy tales, and nursery rhymes.
Gavin’s many awards include the Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement - Non-Fiction in 2019.

Gavin Bishop’s artworks and stories enchant his readers, young and old, while strengthening their sense of belonging in Aotearoa. Gavin has published nine books since appearing at the 2017 Marlborough Book Festival, including Atua: Māori Gods and Heroes, a beautiful work inhabited by a pantheon of deities and heroes.
